Workers at the Oakland Airport in California rallied on Thursday, December 6, at the Port of Oakland in Jack London Square, threatening to strike in the week before Christmas. Both union and non-union airport workers attended the rally, which came on the heels of a major job action at the airport by several unions. “We get no breaks, no overtime, no sick leave,” Hakima Arhab told the port commissioners. Arhab was fired by Subway after she appeared in videos and flyers exposing the conditions of non-union workers at the airport.
