55 Great Artists Who Never Won A Grammy

Randy Shawbyline‚ Feb. 14‚ 2013

In criticizing the recent Grammy Awards, New York Times critic Jon Caramanica highlighted voters’ “stubborn and almost total reluctance to engage with the music of the day.” Yet the title of his article, “Everything Old is Praised Again,” is itself ironic, given that the same concerns about the Grammy’s relevance have been raised since the rock and roll era began. In the 1960’s, Henry Mancini repeatedly beat out the Beatles and Rolling Stones for Grammy’s, while Chuck Berry, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Who and Jimi Hendrix never won a Grammy award. For a list of 55 great artists who never got a Grammy (a group that may surprise even the most cynical rock fans), click here.
