“I HEARD THAT:” SFJAZZ DEDICATE THE JOE HENDERSON LAB; SHOUT OUT TO JOE THE BARBER...

Rochelle Metcalfebyline‚ Feb. 20‚ 2013

SFJAZZ Center continues to brighten the scene as it evolves from its Grand Opening, January 23, and celebrates Jazz as a living art form, built on a constantly evolving tradition. Last Thursday night kicked off the ribbon cutting dedication of the Joe Henderson Lab, located on the first floor of the Center, and SFJAZZ HOT PLATE Festival. A nice turnout of media and others were invited; enjoyed hors d'eouvres, fine wine and conversations that dwelled on the subject of jazz.

Grammy-award winning saxophonist Henderson was featured many times on Founder Randall Kline’s jazz festivals, that started in 1983. The Master musician passed, June 30, 2001, age 64. Kline NEVER forgot him- such loyalty!
