Sick and Tired of Being Sick and TiredLandon Dickeybyline‚ Jul. 27‚ 2006Last week workers in San Francisco won a major victory through the passage of Tom Ammiano’s universal health security ordinance. The ordinance, which guaranteed coverage for the uninsured residents of the city, affirmed the mayor and Board of Supervisors’ support for the labor community. Yesterday, however, laborers were back on the front lines. Now they are fighting for the “right to be sick”. Prior to the Budget and Finance Committee meeting, Young Workers United member Dante Grant led a press conference intended to share workers’ grievances. |
