"MUNI, Siffermann..."

Jul. 27‚ 2006

Dear Editor...

First, an overall thanks to everyone who contributes to Beyondchron, so we can get some actual (daily) news which isn't either inspired by or censored by greed.

And then, thanks for the article on how public transit can boost the city's economy. And, congratulations to the San Francisco Comical for finally catching on to something the Bay Guardian pointed out clearly years ago... that proper taxation of downtown businesses could provide FREE transportation, which would then boost downtown's sales (not to mention taking a little weight off the backs of over-burdened San Francisco citizens).

While Muni is considering Rapid Transit service on Geary, might they not also consider Mission Street? It takes so long to get from downtown (or anywhere) to the outer Excelsior district that it's like travelling to another country, especially if you have children with you. I have to go out there for meetings once or twice a week, and always think how awful it is for people who have to make that trip every day. The bus is always packed full, with more people standing than sitting; it's a long, miserable trip for everyone. I imagine residents of the Mission and Excelsior would spend more money downtown also, if getting there wasn't a trip through hell.

Editor,

This article is completely one-sided and arbitrary. Where is a quote from Siffermann or a rep? Show some respect and give him a chance to defend his actions. He works 24/7 for the benefit of the kids in the system. Show support instead of insults and maybe you would have a different reaction.
