"Pelosi and the Election..."

Nov. 09‚ 2006

Randy,

Stumbled upon your article while doing some research on the soon to be Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. (Scary thought if there ever was one) I guess from your far left perspective, the media is a Republican spin machine. Funny, how most of us outside the liberal coasts, believe that the media, like schools, are made up of a bunch of libs. Oh my bad, that's right, progressives as you like to call them.

Just wanted to point out a mistake errr.. an oversight, as I am sure you would rather call it, regarding the minimum wage bill here in Colorado. I am paraphrasing but you stated the amendment where on the ballot, easily passed. Well the final vote in Colorado was 52 to 47, not sure I would consider that easily passing but what do I know, I am a conservative! One final thought, you throw out the old "tax breaks for the rich" classic progressive spin, do the math. Who pays the vast majority of taxes. It is simple math, provide a tax break and the people paying the taxes get a reduction in the amount paid. Not a difficult concept for a progressive is it?

Have a nice day!

Regards,

Terry Fine

Paul,

I consider myself a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. Having said that I consider it a travesty that big government can confiscate private property from homeowners to increase their tax revenues. I understand and support obtaining property for schools, hospitals, roads etc., through eminent domain but not for other reasons. As I read the proposition, land taken for schools, roads, etc. would not require the State to pay for future revenues etc., but those taken for other purposes such as increasing the tax base would. To me allowing big government to take a mans private property or business to increase their revenues smacks of a Socialist state at the least and at the most a Communistic state. Activism as you call it and private enterprise are not mutually exclusive.

Sincerely, Howard L. Hambrecht, M.D.

Paul,

I stumbled upon your article regarding California as a blue state. I enjoyed reading your opinions. One thing, The sex offender Prop...it's 2,000 feet. They cannot reside within 2,000 feet of a park or school. just thought I would let you know.

Dear Editor:

As we celebrate the reclaiming of the House for the people and the election of the first woman Speaker of the House, the question remains: What will Democrats actually do to end the war in Iraq? Criticizing the conduct of the war while continuing to vote to pump hundreds of billions of dollars into waging the war has only deepened the quagmire and bloodshed of Iraq.

More than an estimated 655,000 Iraqis have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.' invasion of Iraq. That's almost the population of San Francisco! And thousands of Americans have been killed. All their blood taints our collective conscience.

Let us reclaim our belief in the sanctity of human life. Let us end the bloodshed now.

Sincerely, Anh Le

Dear Editor,

Tommi Avicolli Mecca's analysis of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party is correct. At the SF Democratic Party's Annual Awards Dinner last month, Pelosi said that in her first 100 days she would "drain the swamp." The swamp will never be drained without the immediate impeachment of Bush and Cheny and a criminal investigation into the "policies" of this administration.

Sincerely, Terrie Frye
