"More Obama, Mission Armory, Matt Gonzalez..."Jan. 23‚ 2007Editor, Great article [about Matt Gonzalez]. You know, I think Newsom's a Republican plant and I think his gay marriage legalization was a ploy to help Bush win re-election. That move spawned various state initiatives that really brought out the religious right in droves. When I found out that he received something like 50% of his money from LA, that's when I started wondering if he was a plant. First we have a manufactured energy crises from Cheney and Ken Lay that helped purge Davis and anoint Arnold. Then Newsom gets elected with 50% of his money coming from LA. You tell me if that doesn't smell like the vast right wing conspiracy? Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. :-) Either way, Matt's got my vote if he runs again. Then again, I'd vote for Da Mayor over this clown. At least Willie got some things done. Newsom's a complete lose in my book. Have you ridden MUNI lately? Sigh... Rant off, Derrell Piper Editor, You invited feedback, so here you go. What's wrong with Kink.com buying the Armory? I live in the Mission and I'm all for it. I'm not particularly into their thing, but I'd rather see the building occupied than languishing any longer. I'm also strongly supportive of the sex positive vibe in this city and if Kink.com becomes a responsible steward of the Armory, good for them. And though I'm also all for activism and affordable housing, I do find the ultimate disposition to have the smell of sweet irony... My biggest concern about the Mission right now is the crime. In case you haven't noticed, people are getting shot left and right around here. I'm far more worried about that than what sort of kinky use the Armory's getting. Derrell Editor, What I think you are saying is [Barack Obama] is the best we are going to get these days. What about Dennis Kucinich? A better test would be to get a Democrat who would be willing to leave this decrepit, obsolete mess and form a party. Maybe the "Modern New Deal Party."
