"Iran..."

Mar. 06‚ 2007

Editor,

We sent an urgent e-mail to Representative Pelosi and Senators Boxer & Feinstein voicing our concern about rumors of an imminent U.S. attack on Iran. The evidence strongly indicates that Bush plans to attack Iran in 2007. The informational warfare machine has started. There is growing anti-Iranian militaristic hysteria, new informational leaks, disinformation, and we can possibly expect a manufactured provocation to rally public opinion and Congressional approval. A war against Iran would have catastrophic consequences for the Middle East and the world.

Bush, the decider, has already indicated that he can go to war with or without the consent of Congress. Congress needs to pass a binding resolution blocking Bush/Cheney from starting anything with Iran. Congress needs to hold hearings, calling top military brass to testify. We are encouraged that the Bush administration will sit down with Syria and Iran, but we are afraid Bush will say we tried to talk to Iran but they wouldn't listen and this will be another excuse to attack. Members of Congress should start talking to Iran, circumventing Condi Rice's feeble diplomatic efforts. Congressional delegations routinely travel to Iraq. Why not Iran? Finally, Congress needs to warn Bush and Cheney that they will be instantly impeached if they initiate a wider war.
