R.S.V.P. to Newsom’s “Fake Question-Time”

by Paul Hogarth, 2007-01-12

Because he won’t comply with Proposition I and attend a monthly Board of Supervisors meeting, Mayor Gavin Newsom is holding a Town Meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13th at the Richmond Recreational Center (251 18th Avenue.) “Fake Question-Time,” as the satirical website SFist has dubbed it, is an incompatible substitute to Prop I – and is instead a stunt on the Mayor’s part to kick off his re-election campaign. Now the Mayor’s Office is requesting that people R.S.V.P. in advance to guarantee a seat. As the Bay Guardian reported on their blog, Newsom has sent out invitations to his political allies, hoping to stack the deck in his favor. Concerned San Franciscans should go ahead and R.S.V.P. to make sure that “Fake Question-Time” doesn’t turn into a Newsom love-fest at (415) 554-6110 or at mons@sfgov.org
