"Impeachment..."

by , 2007-04-10

Paul,

Thank you for a serious and well written article -- I think it's important to start getting the public discourse moving forward on this.

Could you perhaps mention in the future some different organizations that are working towards the impeachment of Bush/Cheney? I would suggest handing out a few links like impeachforpeace.org, afterdowningstreet.org, impeachbush.tv, a28.org ?

Good read. I could not agree more, except one point. Not everyone wants to see those women as president, for me personally, I do not see either career politician (Hillary or Nancy) as stong enough or unbeholden to special interests enough to qualify to clean up the mess. This will take a person of true character. I don't think anyone can come out of this two party system without being essentially bought and paid for. There is hope. Even my dog could make better decisions than #43 and could make Barney run tail betweeen legs for the rose garden.

Dear Paul,

Thanks for your excellent impeachment essay. Is there any way an ordinary nobody like me could help make this happen? I give money to the progressives, respond to all those e-petitions and letter-writing campaigns and show up for marches and peace vigils. Obviously those things aren't dramatic enough. I don't have the guts for big civil disobedience actions and I'm not rich. So what can people like me do? Thanks for listening.

Dear Paul,

I read your piece about impeaching the President and Vice President. I agree with you. The time has come. I actually began my own career working at the White House for Ronald Reagan. Thus, my coming to the point that I believe the President and Vice President needs to be impeached says something about the current occupants of the Administration.

The only point I think I'd make is that once impeachment proceedings commence, Cheney resigns, Bush appoints the successor VP (which may be approved by the Senate depending on who it is) and Speaker Pelosi does not, in fact, become President. However, I think the country would be well served if the Senate confirmed a more reasonable, intelligent, and honest Vice President than what we do have presently.

Good job on your piece.

Sincerely,

Mike Broemmel

Dear Mr. Paul Hogarth,

Enjoyed your article "It’s Time to Impeach Bush and Cheney … Seriously" But don't agree with your assessment " Everyone wants to see a woman become President, but wouldn’t you rather it be Nancy Pelosi than Hillary Clinton?"

Pelosi stands directly in the way of impeachment of Cheney/Bush by her impeachment-is-off-the-table stance. Pelosi needs to pay attention to what MOST Americans are saying. And what they are saying is that Cheney/Bush MUST be impeached.

I live in Savannah Georgia, and I can tell you that right here in the Bible belt...people are not happy with Bush and his war... and the cost in American lives and our futile dumping of tax dollars on this unrelenting un-winnable war.

Pelosi needs to respond to Americans need for removing Cheney/Bush. Pelosi alone is stopping the national conversation on impeachment.
