"VP Debate, Blindness..."

Editor,
I was one of millions who watched the much-hyped Vice Presidential debate last Thursday. I am biased; I support the Obama/Biden ticket. However, I thought Senator Biden won the debate hands down. He was articulate, knowledgeable, in command of the facts, and restrained. The debate gave me and the rest of the country a chance to see and hear him up close rather than just as a background figure. I believe the country was reassured that he would make a fine president if the need arose. Governor Palin, on the other hand, came across to me as someone scripted with a few talking points. She just wouldn't answer many of the questions or gave "fuzzy" answers. When she didn't know the answer she smirked at the camera. She came across as smarmy rather than folksy. More than ever, I cringe at the thought that she could actually become president. And given Senator McCain's age, this would be a real possibility if McCain/Palin were elected. Her performance probably reassured the Republican base, but I can't imagine that she swayed many uncommitted voters. Rather, I believe Senator Biden's performance probably swayed them in favor of the Obama/
Biden ticket.
