Re: "Newsom Administration Seeks to End Funding for Ellis Act Eviction Defense" by Randy Shaw.
Very informative article. I appreciate the heads up ... I'm burning up with anger knowing that a relatively low cost safety net service with a huge life-saving impact is being threatened. Great reporting by highlighting what these mayor staff people at these nonessential positions are making. C'mon now, "Director of Climate Protection Initiatives"? ... How many green jobs or entrepreneurship opportunities has Wade Crowfoot created for folks in our neighborhoods?

I voted for Barack Obama, and am very pleased that he's our President. But what about the successful elections last weekend in Iraq? That doesn't get a mention. And if Obama is able to make good on his promise to withdraw from Iraq, it will only be because of the success of the surge, which he and progressives were completely wrong about. But Obama is quite sensible about Afghanistan, where we have to prevent the Taliban from taking power again.

Re: "2009: Year of Hope and Struggle for SF Hotel Workers" by Marc Norton. Being bullies get you no where. If that is the union's tactics, be prepared for more severe cuts. Do you think businesses will survive? You will be cutting your own throats in the process.
